CAMEO: STANDARD TERMS FOR VENDORS

1. INSTRUCTIONS

All goods submitted for sale by Cameo will be accepted subject to the following stated conditions. By offering lots for sale, vendors will be deemed to have accepted and acknowledged these conditions, unless any variation has been specifically agreed.


Vendors warrant that the items included are their unencumbered goods to which they have good title in law. It is also a condition of the Auction that the vendor indemnifies the auctioneers against any claim made in connection with any goods entered.

2. COMMISSION/CHARGES

  • Commission will be charged at 20% of the hammer price and this amount will be subject to VAT.
  • The commission charge is inclusive of all extras insurance, research, sorting, lotting, photography, website and internet advertising (including 'live' internet sales) and all other forms of publicity.
  • Unsold lots entered with reserves will carry a charge of 10% of the reserve price plus VAT, subject to a minimum of £5 plus VAT.
  • For complete house clearances a charge will be made for sorting, and clearing.
  • There is no further lotting charges for unsold lots that are transferred for re entry in any further sales.
  • The auctioneer reserves the right to dispose of all goods deemed to be of negligible value which are not sold and which are not collected within 10 days of the auction, after receiving results

WHERE LOTS ARE WITHDRAWN WITHOUT GIVING AT LEAST 7 DAYS NOTICE IN WRITING, THE AUCTIONEER RESERVES THE RIGHT TO CHARGE A MINIMUM OF 50% OF ANY LOW ESTIMATE WHERE THE AFORESAID LOT HAS BEEN ADVERTISED.

 

3. RESERVES

All goods are offered WITHOUT RESERVES unless agreed the auctioneer receives written instructions within 7 working days before the auction. The seller shall be entitled to place an agreed reserve, prior to the auction, on any lot, being the minimum hammer price at which the lot may be treated as sold. However, the auctioneer reserves the right to sell within a bid of the agreed reserves. Where multiple lots are entered with reserves, the auctioneer has the right to consider the entries as a whole, whereby some items may sell for less than their reserves counterbalanced by others for more.

 

THERE IS A MINIMUM RESERVE OF £100.

 

All lots entered with reserves cannot be changed unless the vender contacts the auction room at least 7 working days prior to the auction. Unsold lots entered with reserves will carry a charge of 10% of the reserve price plus VAT, subject to a minimum of £10 plus VAT. Any lots deemed to be of lesser value than the minimum reserve will be sold without such reserve, or withdrawn by the vendor, this will incur a charge of £10. The auctioneer also has the right to vet lots, which are subject to reserves and remove any which, after valuation, are deemed to be too high.

4. COLLECTIONS, STORAGE AND DELIVERY OF GOODS ENTERED FOR SALE

A minimum of £35 is made for all collections, but at the discretion of the auctioneer, Cameo agrees to offer a FREE pick-up service on vendors' items with a total market value of over £5000 entered for auction, and FREE storage for the aforesaid lots before the day of the auction. A charge of £10 plus VAT per week per item is levied after that. No liability will be accepted for the loss or damage to any such goods that are stored, or delivered, by the saleroom. A minimum charge of £35 plus VAT per item is made on unsold goods that have to be delivered back to the vendor.

5. VENDORS ACCOUNTS

Because of the amount worldwide commission & live bidding buyers. Cameo can only undertake to settle vendors' accounts between 28 and 35 working days after the sale and subject to receiving payment from the purchaser.

 

However, Cameo will not accept responsibility for any default by the purchaser. If a purchaser fails to complete his/her purchase, no payment will be made to the vendor. In this event the item will be either returned to the vendor or re-offered for sale at the next auction. Where multiple items are entered accounts will be settled only after all lots have sold or the client has been asked to collect unsold items.

 

 

 

CAMEO: STANDARD TERMS FOR SELLERS

DESCRIPTION

All lots are sold as shown with all faults, imperfections and errors of description, and the auctioneers shall not be held responsible for the authenticity, genuineness, date, age, period or condition or quality of any lot, nor do they make any warranty or representations, expressed or implied, as to any of these matters.

 

The auctioneers may, at their discretion, modify any description or statement in the catalogue. Concerning autographed material, Cameo undertakes its own due diligence & makes every effort to ensure that items offered are authentic & original. Where supplementary provenance is available this will be supplied. Cameo stands behind it's Catalogue descriptions but where a buyer considers an autograph to have been forged, then Cameo will cancel the sale and provide a refund when, (a) the written evidence of two mutually recognized experts is provided (b) the original buyer has remained the owner of the item & (c) written evidence of the claim is presented within 21 days of purchase.

BIDDING

In making any bid or commission bid the purchaser acknowledges that his/her attention has been drawn to these conditions of sale and that he/she agrees to be bound by them.

 

The highest bidder shall be the purchaser.

The auctioneer who also reserves the right to refuse a bid shall regulate the advance of the bidding.

The auctioneer reserves the right of absolute discretion in all disputes concerning the conduct of any sale; including the right to offer for re-sale any disputed lot.

In a case where the vendor has imposed a reserve the auctioneer shall have the right to bid on behalf of the vendor.

Upon arrival at the auction, prospective purchasers must register their name and address in order to obtain a bidding number. Failure to do so gives the auctioneer the right to disregard any unregistered bid and re-enter the lot for sale.

BUYERS COMMISSION CHARGES:

A premium of 15% plus vat will be added to the bill on completion. There is a minimum charge of £1.50 plus vat per lot.

PAYMENT

Cash, personal cheques, debit or credit cards can make payments. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Switch and Solo.

A 2% surcharge will be added to the bill for all credit card payments.

No lots may be cleared until full payment has been made to the auctioneer.
